The existing house occupies the southwest corner of the plot, positioned on an elevated platform 7 meters above the access level. Its original layout is distinctly organized into two separate wings: a private wing and a public wing, connected by a semicircular exterior staircase. Entry to the house is approached via a winding promenade, enriched by an abundance of native vegetation that defines the landscape.

The extension reimagines the existing structure by integrating the new program within the covered outdoor spaces of the original envelope. This strategy introduces a 22x7m concrete canopy as an unprogrammed architectural element that mediates between the existing and new structures. This intervention doubles the ground floor area while aligning the extension’s height with the original elevation, creating a cohesive volumetric relationship.

The large window plays a dual role, appearing lightweight and transparent from a distance while gaining solidity and presence when closed. The spatial experience beneath the imposing concrete volume is softened by the slender profile of the lintel, balancing the sense of mass with a delicate infrastructural elegance.

The design establishes a seamless interior-exterior continuity on the ground floor, oriented toward two key perspectives: the immediate terrace and the distant sea. These views are framed and filtered by an array of native plants, including palms, pines, agaves, and prickly pears.

The result is a podium and a commanding window, offering a serene vantage point to experience the sea and the surrounding landscape.
