A Mediterranean retreat shaped by water, materiality and the spirit of Ibiza. The project reinterprets the house through a series of spatial interventions that strengthen the relationship between architecture, landscape and leisure. Rooted in Balearic materiality and designed around water, light and social living, the proposal creates a sequence of spaces for gathering, retreat and connection.
Conceived as a place to slow down and reconnect, Can Furnet explores the relationship between architecture and ritual. A series of interventions redefine the existing house through water, natural materials and carefully framed outdoor spaces. The result is a home that feels both rooted in the Balearic landscape and open to the rhythms of Mediterranean life.
Concept: Becoming BalearicFor this project in Ibiza, the concept is to strengthen the connection between the house and its outdoor spaces—the garden, the pool, and the views.
A simple intervention makes this possible: the bedrooms are relocated to the upper floor, while the living and daytime areas move to the ground floor, directly engaging with the landscape.
A large frameless glass opening dissolves the boundary between inside and outside, creating a seamless continuity between the interior spaces and their surroundings.
Materiality becomes a central design tool. Local stone, timber and mineral finishes introduce warmth, texture and permanence, allowing the architecture to feel rooted in place. Rather than acting as decoration, materials define the atmosphere and character of the project.
